Mrs. LaTonya N. Conner
LaTonya N. Conner is entering her first season as the interim head coach of the Claflin University volleyball team.
A native of Augusta, Ga., Conner is also an instructor in the School of Education in the department of sport management. Prior to joining the Claflin University family, she spent 16 years at her alma mater Albany State University (ASU) in Albany, Ga, where she was an Assistant Professor in the department of Health and Human Performance and Program Coordinator for Health and Physical Education. While at ASU she also served on several committees, including the Faculty Senate and Faculty Search Committee.
In addition, she served the ASU athletics department in several capacities with emphasis on volleyball and women’s basketball.
Conner received two bachelor degrees, one in Health, Physical Education and Recreation (1997) and Health and Physical Education K-12 (1998) and her M.Ed in Health and Physical Education (1999) from ASU. She is currently in her dissertation phase for her ED.D in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy
Conner is an active member of the Lambda Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in Thomasville, GA. She is also and a life member of the Albany State University National Alumni Association.
She and her husband of 15 years, Kenyan Conner, Sr., who is an assistant head football coach at Benedict College, reside in Columbia, S.C. They are the proud parents of a son Kenyan, Jr. (13) and a daughter Kennedy (8).
